Meal Deal Monday- Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Yes, I know it's not Monday but yesterday was Memorial Day and I forgot to do it. I am really going to start doing this every Monday again. Click HERE to view previous Meal Deal Monday Recipes. Remember all these are less than $5 to make!!!

My total today to feed 8 was only $4.24!!!

Ingredients
4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves, on sale for $2.99 a lb at Wal-Mart
2 tablespoons butter , $0.10. I use great value because it has no trans fat
2 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed cream of chicken soup, Free. Use coupon from HERE. These are priced at $0.50 each so after coupon free!
1 onion, finely diced , $.15. Go to the Mexican markets in your town because it's cheaper!
2 (10 ounce) packages refrigerated biscuit dough, torn into pieces. Join PSSST and get money saving coupons sent to you. I had $0.75 off each from them. These are priced at $1.25 at Wal-mart so $0.50 each after coupon.

Directions
Place the chicken, butter, soup, and onion in a slow cooker, and fill with enough water to cover.
Cover, and cook for 5 to 6 hours on High. About 30 minutes before serving, place the torn biscuit dough in the slow cooker. Cook until the dough is no longer raw in the center.

  3. I haven't had chicken and dumplings for ages! My brother's friend Denise showed me how she makes it, but it's so involved. This slow cooker recipe looks like a much easier way. Thanks.
